Getting you started for the assignment
If you are writing the report for your assignment you’ll be able to manage this as we go through the rest of the module.
If you are building your assignment, then we need to get you thinking about your learning platform that you will use to create your course outline and deliver your one piece of learning content (video, H5P, audio etc) and your authored learning module.
I have some free options available for you to consider so you can at least get the experience of working directly with a platform.
If you have any other suggestions I’d be glad to hear about them.
The options available are;
Moodle is one of the most widely used Learning Management Systems in the world. As well as allowing you to upload SCORM content, it has many options to build courses, curriculums and include other types of content like video, links to resources, documents and H5P content.
If you’d like experience with Moodle, you can register on our Moodle LMS here and I can make you an admin.
This will allow you to work inside a Moodle environment. Please register here and I can make you an admin to get the ball rolling.
Thinkific is a platform that allows people to create and sell courses online. It has a free tier where you can create a Thinkific account for free without being on a timed plan, and you can include lots of different content, except for SCORM content.
I have a free Thinkific account here as an example of the type of experience you can create.
Thinkific allows you to create a free account and use for the purposes of creating your high level Employee Induction .
You will need to create your own Thinkific account for free to gain access.
Google Classroom is “a free web service developed by Google for schools that aims to simplify creating, distributing, and grading assignments. The primary purpose of Google Classroom is to streamline the process of sharing files between teachers and students.”
If you have a gmail account, you will have automatic free access to create a Google Classroom Course
SCORM Cloud Testing SCORM content is easy using SCORM Cloud’s testing features, which allow you to see how your content plays in a variety of learning platforms. SCORM cloud doesn’t support the creation of course content unless it is uploaded as SCORM.
We will be looking at these platforms in more detail, however I thought it would be a good idea for you to start exploring these options now so you can think about which delivery method you are going to use.
